Developing a Strategic Plan for the Recommended National Program for Fisheries Sector Development Saudi Arabia

Agriculture Development Fund (KSA) - Project Dates:
March 2012 - June 2012

Description of Project:
The Fisheries Sector Development Plan created by Poseidon & KPMG as a part of the Seventh Initiative project being conducted by the Agricultural Development Fund (ADF) outlines several key areas that require the public sector to drive the changes in order for the fisheries sector to
achieve its targeted potential.
The changes required by the development plan involve multiple stakeholders from different ministries and other government organizations.
Coordinating the changes among a multitude of stakeholders is extremely challenging and requires considerable focus and empowerment.

Hence, the establishment of an autonomous program to drive these changes has been recommended (referred to as the National Program for Fisheries Sector Development (NPFSD). The NPFSD will focus on implementing the development plan as outlined in the Fisheries Development Plan Report (from the Seventh Initiative project.)

Services Provided:
Poseidon is providing the technical inputs required to ope rationalise the NPFSD. In particular it is leading the development of case studies of institutional change exercises from four leading fisheries nations to demonstrate organizational options for the Kingdom.
