A number of Poseidon activities and projects relate to activities in more than one country. The company was previously (2004-2007)part of a framework consortium to evaluate EC Fisheries Partnership Agreements with third countries throughout the world. Examples of evaluations completed include: Angola, Solomon Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Cook Islands, Seychelles, Tanzania, Comoros, Kenya, Cape Verde, Sao Tome and Cote D’Ivoire, Norway, Iceland, Faroe Islands, and Greenland. The company also works regularly for FAO. Previous work has included specific studies on issues such as discard reduction programmes (in the form of bycatch utilisation and bycatch reduction), preparation of papers for inclusion in the FAO SOFIA publication and for submission to COFI, literature reviews, and a number of pieces of work on both certification and small-scale fisheries. The Company has also assisted FAO in with the facilitation of workshops. Additional multinational work has included several projects looking at the impacts of trade liberalisation on the poor, and on pro-poor fisheries trade mechanisms. Poseidon has also worked recently for WWF on a project to review tropical shrimp trawl fisheries around the world, with a vew to developing a blue-print/guidelines for sustainable shrimp trawl fisheries. |
