Mid Term Review of the Commercialisation of Seaweed Production Solomon Islands

Description of Project:
The Commercialisation of Seaweed Production in Solomon Islands (COSPSI) project has as a project purpose to 'establish a commercially sustainable seaweed farming industry' In particular the project aims to increase production from 43 tons in 2003 to between 400 and 600 tons in three years, by expanding production on remote islands and supporting the private sector in marketing and exports.

Services Provided:
Poseidon conducted a mid-term evaluation of the project to: assess the relevance, efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of the project; to make recommendations on implementation for the remainder of the project; and to make suggestions for any follow-up actions. The evaluation was undertaken by two consultants, a Team Leader/evaluation expert, and a seaweed expert.
