Marine Stewardship Council - Project Dates:
April 2006 - April 2006

Description of Project:
The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is an independent, global, non-profit organisation whose role is to recognise, via a certification programme, well-managed fisheries and to harness consumer preference for seafood products bearing the MSC label of approval.

Services Provided:
Poseidon staff participated in, and helped facilitate, a workshop to create awareness and understanding of the MSC's fisheries certification process and programme. The work included investigation of potential candidate fisheries, and identification of arrangements and mechanisms that could be used to encourage the participation of fisheries in the Gambia in the MSC's fisheries certification process.
