Dunmore East Harbour Cost Benefit Study Ireland

Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources - Project Dates:
July 2007 - August 2007

Description of Project:
Dunmore East is one of Ireland's premier fishing ports. However conditions and facilities required major investments to be made to ensure the long-term future of the fishing industry operating from the harbour, and as a means of attracting new business/landings to the harbour.

Services Provided:
Poseidon completed a cost benefit analysis of proposed investments based on existing engineering reports and costings, and site visits to discuss potential benefits with stakeholders. Quantitative and qualitative benefits were assessed for different investment options, and discounted net benefits were estimated to arrive at Net Present Values and Internal Rates of Return for the options under consideration. A sensitivity analysis was also conducted into key assumptions and variables in the model.
