The Hastings pelagic gillnet fisheries for mackerel and herring, and the trammel net fishery for Dover sole were one of the first small-sale fisheries to be certified under the MSC standard.

Resource Management Ltd:

Following certification of the fishery, we are now continuing the process of annual surveillance audits of the fishery. These audits have two principal functions:

1. To review any changes in the management of the fishery, including regulations, key management or scientific staff, or stock evaluation
2. To evaluate the progress of the fishery against any Conditions of Certification raised during the Main Assessment
